Vintage Gwen Chapel-Keep Calm and Have Faith

I realized something recently about the story of Abraham and God requesting him to sacrifice his son Isaac.
(Genesis 22)
Actually God told Abraham to sacrifice Isaac, who he waited a very long time for and loved very much!
What I realized is that Abraham didn't complain, didn't question God, didn't say "Ok, God give it up...what's the lesson you want me to learn here, do I really have to kill the promise you gave me?"  Nope Abraham didn't say any of that and by his actions I don't think he was thinking it either. Because he went, he took all that was necessary for a burnt offering.
Another thing I realized is that Isaac didn't complain either!  Yes he did question.."but where is the sheep for the burnt offering?" (verse 7) And here is the lesson to be learned...Abraham's reply..."God will provide a sheep for the burnt offering, my son." (verse 8) Faith.  God was testing Abraham's faith, Abraham was teaching his son to have faith in God.   Even to the very end!! The bible says that Abraham tied Isaac, and laid him on the altar and even had the knife in hand...and still no complaining from Isaac!  Wow!
What faith! Not only is this a great reminder of great, powerful faith but it's also proof that God is never late with what we need.  We may think "man, that was a close one!" but God's got everything in control and by stretching our faith in Him only makes us stronger for Him.
Have a great weekend and do like Abraham did...Keep Calm and Have Faith!

"By faith Abraham , when he was tried, offered up Isaac and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son." Hebrews 11:17
Abraham knew his life and the life of his son was in the hands of a just God. When we know the same, our faith will make us whole as well. That is the faith I strive to put into action every day.
Thanks for the inspiration!

I love this story too! What an amazing parallel to God sacrificing Christ Jesus. Like you say, this is an amazing example of faith to us all!
