Dishwasher Magnet

Do you have trouble with family members not paying attention to this?

On a few occasions Hunkie didn't realize the dishes in the dishwasher were clean.  Those occasions occurred at about 5 am in the morning after a 12 hour shift!  So this didn't upset me but I sure wanted to help the situation out!

Welcome the Dishwasher Magnet!

This little gem is pretty handy in my book and so I plan on making 11 more for the Bunco ladies!!

Here's what I did:
Supplies
Graphic of choice OR you can use the one I made!
{Thanks to The Graphics Fairy for the cute utensils!}
Paper of choice or cardstock
Mod Podge
Magnet
Scissors/Hot Glue Gun
Optional: if you use paper to print the graphic on then you'll need a piece of thin cardboard for sturdiness...I used the piece of cardboard that comes behind a package of scrapbook paper.
Note: I printed the graphic onto parchment paper because I didn't want just plan white.

The size of the graphic is about 3 inches by 3 inches.  I cut it out with about a 3/4 of an inch border.  Then I cut a piece of cardboard the same size as the graphic.

I then placed the cardboard on the back of the graphic and folded the edges in.

I then cute the corners....

....then cut again, cutting away the triangles of the corner....

....then folded the corners in...think of it as like wrapping a present!!

Next I spread some mod podge down and inserted the cardboard piece.
Mod podged along the edges of the cardboard piece.
Then I folded down the corners and applied a smaller square piece of paper on top of the folds.
I put a thin as possible coat of mod podge on the top...it lifts the ink so be thin and quick! ☺
Lastly, I hot glued the magnet on.  All done!

Now I have a stylish, friendly indicator!!
11 more to go!!

Feel free to use this all you want!!

See my Link Parties Page for where I'll be having fun at!!

Happy Thursday!!

Yeah, we could really benefit from this at my house. I don't know how many times my husband starts the washer at night and forgets to tell me, so I load it with dirty dishes. It's no fun to wash things twice. Great job friend!

Great idea! One of my sons is always asking "Are these clean?" I'm going to make one of these this week with my xyron magnet maker.
Thanks for the tip.

I need to make this!! One of the worst things is finding a dirty dish in a dishwasher full of clean dishes - sometimes the hubby forgets to check it first!
