Chic Couture-June Beauty Boxes

I'm beginning to think I need to change my Maven profile to Boho Glam!! That's what I went with for June and July!
Loved both Manda & Isabela!  Not too crazy about the Luxe Up Your Lips lipgloss....you'd think there'd be some color payoff but there's just not in this shade, Blushing Rose.  Prehaps it's cause it's close to my natural lip color?

At first I was just 'eh' about this bag but the Keratherapy Daily Smoothing Cream quickly changed my mind!! It was the best product out of them all and I'm trying to ration it till I can buy some!  It smells so good and really smooths my hair.  The Smashbox primer is ok...it's greasy which I don't get for it being a primer.  The Liptitude stain is a little messy but I like the color and the eye shadow crayon probably has the most fun package I've seen for an eye shadow crayon! I haven't tried the face mask yet.  Overall a pretty cool bag!

Fun beauty box month!!

Chic Couture-April & May Beauty Boxes

Julep-April

In April Julep came out with with a new brow powder & brush and eyebrow gel.  I chose the Modern Beauty box to try both and then added Angie, a silver linear liquid  holographic....it's really cool! As you can see from my pic I got two brow powders instead of one and the gel. Julep had corrected it and had the gel on the way before I even called about it! I'm still undecided if I like the brow powder or not....you dip the brush in ever so gently which I did not do on the first use and got way too much powder! I'm not very good at brows so I'm still learning!

Ipsy-April
April Glam Bag was good for me!! I love The Balm and have been using the Nude Dude shadow and loving it! The Hikari blush is pretty.  The Mica is eye primer which I'm a die hard Urban Decay Primer Potion gal so it is ok. The face lotion I've been having to use since I"m out of my Mary Kay and I will be staying with Mary Kay....it says it's non-greasy which I find just isn't true....I have to barely use some to not feel like I'm piling on the grease! Ugh! And then the tinted balm that is for lips and cheeks is ok but I hardly use products I have to dip my finger in. So I'm calling this bag good and not great.

.......................................

Julep-May

I had to skip Julep in May due to being low on funds but then was able to make a Secret Store purchase and try one of the eye shadow palettes. I got the Long Weekend Eyeshadow Palette for $19.99, which is what my May box would have cost anyway. Here's a few pics I took on with my phone, unedited....

The packaging is pretty and the shadows look pretty too. I haven't quite used every color yet.  There is quite a bit of fall out with these shadows so if you were to compare it to say Urban Decay Naked palettes well.....there just really isn't any comparison. I'm glad I didn't pay full price for this! It's still a nice palette that several looks can be achieved with.

Ipsy-May
Another good Glam Bag! I say good and not great because 2 of the products are just eh for me. Those would be the face products. I'm simply a die hard Mary Kay gal!! So the cleanser and sunscreen haven't been used and may be re-gifted.  Everything else is yay!! You know I love Urban Decay anything.  The Chella Eyebrow pencil worked great and can never go wrong with a new brush!  I did finally have enough points to get an extra item and got some nail polish stickers.  I thought the beach themed ones were cute and will be perfect for our trip to the beach in July!
And the bag itself is pretty darn cute!

Chic Couture-March Beauty Boxes

Had another great beauty box month! And even extra goodies by way of a Julep Mystery Box!
I decided to splurge on their Lucky Mystery Box to get two new colors, Dawnelle( a pretty rose taupe glitter) & Darby(dark green with some microglitter).

I went with the Modern Beauty box again and added on the clover decals.  I chose the shade Primp in their new lipstick , it's a nice creamy neutral. The Fluid Eye Glider I really like, I was able to do a kitten eye on the first use!!

In the Lucky Mystery Box I got the two new shades, more clover decals, Go Big mascara, Clean Slate pen, and 3 other polishes none are dupes I think so I'm very pleased. I haven't ordered a mystery box in a while so this was fun! And then I had seen that there was a code to get a wedding duo free when you made a purchase so I got  Sienna and Fifi for free! Sienna is a dupe but I will use it as a gift!

First of all the bag is so, so pretty! The Nyx Butter Lipstick and Mary Kay shadow stick are in some bright, fun colors which I have learned to embrace! The CoolWay hair oil is ok, I've been using a Matrix oil that I still prefer.  I had the Laneige foundation in a Target box and liked it but not enough to buy and haven't tried the eye gels yet but was told I'd really like them.. Overall, a great bag!!

Chic Couture-February Beauty Boxes

Oh lovelies!
February was a goooood beauty box month!!
Finally I got a pink lip product in my Ipsy bag!!  And extra goodies from Julep!

I went with the Modern Beauty box and got the Glow Highlighter and Illume Eye Brightener. I added on the heart nail stickers and got the new 'Valentine' polish Hartleigh from Jane Park for free.  And then they sent me 5 extra Hartleigh's to share which I'm still in the process of doing!
I like the highlighter, it isn't shimmery at all.  The eye brightener I'm having a little bit of trouble deciding if I like it or not.  My eye area is a problem so I can't tell if it's brightening them up or not! And Hartleigh is pretty fun!
Here's my Valentine mani using Hartleigh....

Margit (mushroom with rose shimmer), Shari (sweet pea pink under Hartleigh) and Cara (cranberry frost)

March's Maven selections include lipsticks which I'm excited about!!

Yay for Ipsy!! This was a good bag for me! I haven't used the Glam Glow eye treatment yet but will soon and that sparkly nail polish is happening this weekend!
The lip stain is a pretty color and the formula is interesting, not in a bad way for me.  It's not thick at all like you might think something that says 'creamy' might would be. It was actually kinda light and the color lasted fairly long.
I got the peach bellini shade of cheek color and like that it's not shimmery....it's more glowy.  And the Demeter perfume oil is a lovely scent!  So, so happy with this bag!

Hope your beauty box month was good too!!

Chic Couture-December & January Beauty Boxes

Time to share the beauty boxes and oops! December too!

December

January
That periwinkle color from December was my favorite!! Sadly I haven't used any from January yet but will soon!

December
Loved everything in this bag except the facial cleanser!

January

Pretty good bags!! The Jouer lip treatment is a repeat which is ok. Don't think I used the first one much so this goes to the gift stash! The eye shadows are both pretty however I already have several options in these shades.  I really wish Ipsy would bust out some fun, daring shades! Love the brush, brushes are always a good thing! And the moisturizer I may or may not try, haven't decided yet.

I'm thinking it might be time for a new subscription.....I've heard very good things about Boxycharm.  Not sure, still thinking it over!! Do you have any you love? Do tell!

Chic Couture-November Beauty Boxes

Time to share November's beauty boxes! Man it comes around quick!

I stuck with Classic with a Twist and got Devon and Shari.  Shari is a great pinkie nude neutral! And Devon has a microshimmer in it but I can't tell it when it's on my nails, still a pretty grey shade just wished that shimmer shined! And then there's the Go Big mascara which I got all excited for. First, I guess it wasn't ready to be put with the polish so they shipped it separately and I got it like 2 weeks after the polish.  But they did give me some Jules for it's late arrival. And second, I'm not really impressed with the formula.  I mean if the name has the word 'big' in it then I guess I was expecting BIG and got not so big.  I might have too high expectations of mascara.  I usually wear two different formulas at a time to barely look like I have lashes!! And I haven't gotten in the habit of wearing falsies mainly because I have to wear glasses! Oh well, the search continues.....

Pretty good bag once more from Ipsy.  I did look in my Glam Room before I got my bag and was kinda disappointed in the eye base, shade of the lip stain and the hairspray. I took the eye base to mean primer and well I'm an Urban Decay Primer Potion die hard. Seems like I always get red shades of lip products and I have done my reviews and rejected red!! I need some pretty pinks that are not light or neutrals!! Or how about a peach? Plus it seemed realllllly dark! And then I'm not sure if me and moroccan oil get along and that's what I thought the hairspray is but it says argan oil. Which I googled and they are not the same thing. So! Nevertheless, I have tried all the products except the hairspray and was pleasantly surprised!! I've been using the eye base over my primer and then putting metallic shades on top and it makes them pop so I really like it!! The lip stain turned out to be a pretty shade of red and I love the eyeliner and the highlighter was ok. (I love The Balm's Mary Lou Manizer highlighter!)

As always, this is fun stuff for me!

Chic Couture-October Beauty Boxes

For the first time ever in my Julep Maven history I had a shipping issue with my monthly box in October.  I had saved up enough Jules for a free box and used them on a basics box. I got my email with the shipping info ( yay for it not being DHL anymore!) and when it said it had been delivered but I still didn't have my box I had to call customer service. And had a great experience. They reshipped and I got it just fine! Now I realize others have had major issues but to me it seems like they listen to feed back and make adjustments.

So the basics box is the Bare Face Cleansing Oil, Konjac sponge and Blank Canvas Face Primer.  I had run out of the Oil and tried a drugstore version and realized how much I like Julep's! It's the best to remove mascara.... well really all of your makeup.  The sponge is nice.  And then the primer has lasted me a very long time since I just apply it to my t zone and it works great! So I needed these items!!

Great Ipsy month!! Love the Nicole by OPI polish....very fall!! Mascara is ok, not anything I'd purchase. The lipgloss is a nice nude pinkish color and love having a scrub around to brighten up my skin when I feel like it's dull.  Haven't tried the lotion yet since I just loaded up on Bath & Body!

Can't wait for November's goodies!!

Chic Couture-August & September Beauty Boxes

Well, I didn't mean to have to do August and September beauty boxes together!
I've been so busy it's just not even funny!

August

Went with the Bombshell box in August.  Loved that gold glitter! And the eyeliner pencil is good.
Tazeen-full coverage Bollywood Gold Glitter
Neha-Sari Magenta Shimmer
Gel Eye Glider in Smoky Plum

Made a secret store purchase too! I wanted to try the Oxygen Base and Top Coat duo. So far I like it, a mani probably lasts about 4 days.  Have you tried these? Thoughts?

My favorite thing out of this is the Urban Decay Perversion Mascara! I actually used everything else except the sheer glo, which I haven't been brave enough to try yet,  as gifts. I like to share!! Of course, another cute bag!

September

September's box was the Boho Glam with a Plush Pout Lip Crayon. And I added on Ana, a white jagged glitter topcoat, so fun! I'm not impressed with the lip crayon shade. I chose Aurora Pink and it reminds me of the free lipstick you get with Clinique. Sad face! I'll have to keep trying to find a lip gloss to help it out!
Mary Lee-Oxblood stain
Erin-Oyster grey creme

I loooove the bag it's self this month! I got a red lipstick and even though I didn't really need another red, it is a good lipstick! Good coverage without staining the lip! The brush is good and I haven't used the eye pencil, Briogeo deep conditioning mask or the all in one toner/serum/moisturizer yet. They all sound great though!

Fun stuff as usual!

Chic Couture-Beauty Favorites

If you follow me on Instagram then you know that I do a photo a day challenge.
A recent prompt was 'I wore this" and I posted my beauty products for the day.  And as I did so I realized I wear these products often and it's safe to say they are favorites right now!

The prettiest neutrals ever!

This is the original scent but I love them all!

Extremely affordable, lovely neutrally-pinky shade! Found at Walgreens or probably what ever is your local drugstore!

I bought this and a lipstick in the same shade a year ago! Just finished off the lipstick and as you can see have used half the gloss.  I find when I use it with the Jordana balm it's very similar to when I paired it with the Mac lipstick! One of the best lipglosses I've ever had.

Would love to hear what your favorites are!

Chic Couture-June & July Beauty Boxes

Since I skipped Julep in June I decided to do a June & July Beauty Box post all together.
Julep recently added some more options on how you can choose your monthly box. I won't got into great detail because the information is on their site but in order to pick and choose your products, instead of one of the profiles, you have to pay an extra $5 a month.  So instead of $19.99 it's $24.99 a month and so I wasn't willing to up my price.  I have been a Maven for over a year and now have so much polish!! So I've been trying to be good, after all I can't wear all that I have at once! One of the things I like about Julep is that they offer other products like care products and some beauty products and so I've often changed to the Modern Beauty box which is a product box.  Others don't care for their beauty products but I like playing so I don't mind!
Here's my July Julep....
Yep the Modern Beauty box with their new Bare Body Milk lotion. Love the smell and feels great on! I have yet to try the pedi creme but I've heard good things!

And here are my Ipsy Bags....

Fun stuff! I love getting liners! I don't hardly ever have to buy them! The Be A Bombshell mascara I don't care for....I can hardly tell I have mascara on and it does smell.  I tried the Beach Spray and whoa! I tried 'scrunching' my hair to get some waves and it did pretty good! I was surprised at how nice the Realtree Perfume was and the Nyx butter gloss was OK, kinda wished I'd gotten a different color but I will layer it with something else.  Good bag!

This bag was OK. Love the pink scalloped edge bag of course! I haven't tried the moisturizer or the tanning oil. They may be used as gifts.  I liked the polish by Whet and was impressed with the Bare Minerals eyeshadow since I was a bit skeptical.  I did use my eye primer before it and found it to be a great base for natural or neutral looks. The Pixi balm is not what I expected. I was expecting color, well I swatched it on my hand and there was no color.  So then I put it on and after about the 2nd time of wearing it noticed my lips turned a pretty rosy pink after a couple of minutes. Aha! Now I get it!
I may still use the other products.  Ipsy, overall,  is always fun even if some of the products aren't.

Chic Couture-May Beauty Boxes

Beauty box time again.  Sadly, I cancelled Birchbox. I know it's only $10 a month but I needed to make a financial trim and Birchbox was it.  Bottom line, I feel like you get more beauty products with Ipsy and that's what I prefer.  Birchbox did send a very tempting 'we want you back' email but I need to focus on some goals I set for myself! And I didn't cut Julep because I can skip, thanks Julep!
And so here's my Julep....

I switched to Bombshell because I really liked the colors! Laree is a golden pink taffeta shimmer and Saaya is a golden apricot shimmer. And then I added on the Creativity Kit that goes with the Pile Wand. I have been so busy that I have not been able to try any of this yet.  The month of May is just so dang busy for me!!

And here's my Ipsy...

I just got this earlier this week.  I usually look in my glam room to see what I'm getting and the thought didn't even cross my mind this month!! When I opened the bag I immediately smelled something heavenly! It's that Chocolate Soleil bronzer and my oh my!! It's the only thing I used...just today and love it! Can't wait to try everything else!!

Chic Couture-Root Pump Review

I wanted to share a quick review of one of the products I got in my last Ipsy bag.  The Big Sexy Hair Root Pump, it's a volumizing spray mousse.
Now I don't use mousse at all. What I do use is the Big Sexy Hair Powder Play, it's a volumizing and texturizing powder.I use it at my crown and 'pouf' my hair.  So I tried the Root Pump in the place of the powder.  First of all, I've been 'poufing' my hair for a while now so I feel like it's pretty 'trained'.  Products like the powder and mousse help the pouf stay in place. I love the powder!
So I applied the Root Pump to my crown with wet hair and blow dried(per the directions of applying to wet hair)  and then poufed away.  And got the results in the pictures above.  The bottom is a 'selfie' angle and that's why my part is flipped. I was impressed the first day, no lie.  I tried it a second time and was a little disappointed. But I don't think my hair was as dry as it was the first try and there was some pretty good Oklahoma winds on the second day! I tried a 3rd time and it did better.  For how I used it I felt like it performed well. But I still prefer the powder and here's why...with the powder even if my hair is still a tiny bit damp I can still get a good pouf.  I don't think that of the mousse.  The mousse will be a good back up plan though!

Have you tried the Root Pump? How'd you like it?

Happy Saturday lovelies!!

Chic Couture-April Beauty Boxes

Beauty box time!
This month I decided to skip Julep.  There wasn't any polishes that I had to have and I would have gotten the Modern Beauty box with a blush and bronzer but I couldn't pick the colors I wanted so there's always next month!

Birchbox
This was ok, really probably good but I might be feeling 'blah' about Birchbox.  Or maybe I just need to cut back on my monthly beauty spending!! I got yet another sunscreen and I have updated my profile. The Color Club polish is pretty but it was goopey. Anastasia brow gel works ok and the skin perfecting gel is ok too. The Kind bar was tasty!

Julep

Ipsy I liked more! They had  me at Urban Decay!! Love the pencil, Mary Kay lip gloss, and the eyeshadow!
Haven't tried the microdermabrasion stuff yet and someone requested on Instagram I report back about the Root Pump.  I used it yesterday and liked it but want to use it a couple more times before saying I love it. You use it on damp hair and I only wash my hair 3 times a week. I'll post on Instagram next week!
I love the bag although it's one of those stinky ones!!

Chic Couture-March Beauty Boxes

Beauty box time!

I went with the Modern Beauty box and added on Tania, a multdimensional mermaid teal glitter. Modern Beauty is the all product box and this month had lip products. A lip scrub and a lip conditioning treatment. Like them both! I really like the applicator on the lip scrub!

More fun products from Ipsy! I love the Be A Bombshell eyeshadows! I'm finding that putting that bright teal shade on my lower lash line makes my brown eyes pop! Haven't used the nail polish yet but I do have a Julep one very similar so while I like it, it may be used as a gift. The lipstick feels great on, but the color is very basic, I like to layer with lipgloss anyway! And then the primer is just ok.  I've been using Julep's matte primer and I can tell a difference when I used the Pixi primer...my t zone got shiny. Overall, still a great bag.

I just got my box earlier this week so the only thing I have used is the Inika eye liner. Well I ate the chocolate immediately! (Twas goood!) The body lotion smells nice and I like the container. Then I got Keims shampoo and Jurlique cleanser & moisturizer. The eye liner is a pretty green and reminds me of my birthstone, Peridot.  I saw a few people on Instagram comment that they weren't pleased with the color but I think it's great for Spring! And different from black or brown!

How were your boxes for the month?
