A Special Christmas Soiree {Project 4}

Welcome to week 4 of our Special Christmas Soiree!!
Time to reveal our Christmas trees!!
I'm giddy to share mine!  This is the first time I've gotten to use my white tree.  The last 2 years, due to having Lil' Hunkie, I opted to do a small tree.  So this year, even though Lil' Hunkie has been taking ornaments off the tree, I'm still very excited to have it up!
I saw some tips on taking photos of your tree at night with a DSLR at Lil Blue Boo, well I don't have one of those and went through the tips with the camera I do have and here's what I got...

I must say a white tree sure does 'glow' more than a regular tree!!
When I was single I decorated a spiral tree(which I still have) with orange and silver.  Then when I got married I bought all new red and black and added the silver in.  I'm lovin' the red/black/silver on a white tree!!
Here's some shots during the day...

Remember my shopping trip to the Dayspring Warehouse Outlet sale?  Well I bought these next three ornaments for $2 each!  I was so tickled to get them!

I have a lot of special ornaments too...don't we all? In case you missed it this was one I got to add over the weekend...

....it came from the awesome Allison of Feeding My Temple, she was my Eisy Morgan's Christmas Ornament Exchange partner.  I love it!

Ok enough about me and my tree!! I want to see yours!!
And remember you can also link up your Christmas crafts, Holiday recipes, and how you capture Christmas!

A Special Christmas Soiree {Project 3}

It's time for our 3rd project for our Special Christmas Soiree!!
This week is all about sharing how you and your family capture, celebrate Christmas.
The first thing that came to my mind was the famous picture with Santa.

Yep this is me and my big sis!  Look how pretty she looks!
And this is us with our younger brothers. Kinda funny that my youngest brother is wrapped in a pink blanket!
Both these photos were taken at banks.  Even though these are the only two Santa pics my mom has I'm thankful for them!  Look at the Christmas memories captured!!

Christmas has got to be the holiday with the most traditions...advent, Santa pics, parades, plays, programs, the tree, cards, special treats, etc, etc.  New or old they're what we use to make the best memories possible.  I've already praised Truth in the Tinsel as our advent tradition this year.  Well I also wanted to do an Elf on the Shelf. You adopt an Elf, name him, talk to him, be good because he is watching.  Then at night when the kids go to bed he flies  back to the North Pole and reports to Santa.  In the morning he's in a new location. It's been a little challenging because Lil' Hunkie wanted to hold Buddy...he's named after my sister's dog not the hilarious movie Buddy the Elf!  So Buddy's been doing a good job at staying up out of reach.....
After night 1....
...went straight to the candy dish!

Night 2...found Bullseye!

And night 3...trying to be an angel on top of my pole tree!

I'm having a ton of fun with our new traditions!!  And Lil' Hunkie is loving all the decorations and lights.  We've already driven through the neighbor several times to "Oh" and "petty"!

So what's your favorite traditions?  How do you and your family capture Christmas!?
Share away!! I'm excited to see...I just might need to adopt one of yours!

Happy Monday!

A Special Christmas Soiree {Project 1}

Welcome to A Special Christmas Soiree!!
I hope you're ready to join the fun and help The ArtsyGirl Connection and I capture Christmas!!

Today's project is all about ornaments or advent calendars!
Here's my ornament.....

It was very easy to make!  Several of these would be cute on a small tree in the kitchen!
As far as an advent...I was seriously thinking about doing one with Lil' Hunkie but after explaining what it was to my husband we decided it might be too much for him right now.  But I'm still wanting to do something.
I got to go into Gordman's on our anniversary date about a week ago and found this lovely!....

I was so excited to find this!! I have some vintagey Christmas decor that this is going to go awesome with and now I have a countdown to do with Lil' Hunkie!  Yippee!

Ok it's your turn!! Whatcha got? I can't wait to see!!
And be sure and go check out what Marilyn of The ArtsyGirl Connection did today!!  It's very creative!!

Share the fun!

Spoon Christmas Ornament

I am gearing up for A Special Christmas Soiree with today's post!

As well as showing off the ornament I made for my exchange partner in Eisy Morgan's Christmas Ornament Exchange!

That's right a double whammy! ☺

Here's my supplies:

I started by bending the handle of the spoon down so it will hang by itself.  Next I arranged, rearranged, arranged and rearranged till I liked the 'pattern' of my flowers in the spoon. Hot glued them in place......

Next I beaded a piece of the wire with the seed beads....

Then I slid on the cross and wound the wire around the base of the spoon and that's it!
Easy as pie!

A few things...
I have a stash of odds and ends silverware from working at Dillard's.  You know the display silverware? Well when they discontinue a pattern you can sell the display for cheap and thus my stash!  I had the rest of my supplies as well....the flowers are from my first plum of a deal from Pick Your Plum!!  So this makes the second project from them and I still have some left!  I'm loving the combo of turquoise, red and white for Christmas and I had just enough!  My exchange partner is Allison from Feeding My Temple.  Not only is she a fellow sister in Christ but a fellow Okie as well!! How fun to get her in the exchange!!  So I knew I wanted to make her ornament and make it special.  Since her blog is about balancing 'feeding her body, mind, and spirit with the Word and amazing food' I wanted the ornament to reflect that.
Spoon + pretty flowers + cross = Feeding My Temple.
Get it?
And how perfect that I had all supplies on hand!! Go me!! ☺
I sure hope she likes it!!

And speaking of Pick Your Plum....there's still time to enter the giveaway!!

See my Link Parties Page for where I'll be linking up at.

Soiree Day-Vintage, Woodsy Baby Boy Shower

Today I'd like to show you a one of a kind baby boy shower.  The typical blue, blue/brown boy showers are cute don't get me wrong but it's always exciting to see people take the typical to the next level and that's exactly what Lindsey of Out of Alabaster did for her sister!

Look at the invitations....such talent!

Love the use of succulents as centerpieces, vintage paper details through out and that frame from Ikea!! Why can't there be an Ikea near me?

Do you see the Mustache Cake Pops in wheatgrass? So fun!! And how about that Baby Bingo card?

And how cute to get to take home your very own baby succulent?
Photos courtesy of Out of Alabaster

Such great details to this shower!!  And Lindsey has a great blog too!
Check her out!
