Vintage Gwen Chapel-Being John the Baptist

I was reading one of our advent's scriptures and had a light bulb go on.

Luke 1:76-79 TNIV
"And you, my child, will be called a prophet of the Most High; for you will go on before the Lord to prepare the way for him, to give his people the knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of their sins, because of the tender mercy of our God, by which the rising sun will come to us from heaven to shine on those living in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the path of peace."

This is the second half of 'Zechariah's Song' over John the Baptist.  Remember God shut Zechariah's mouth because he didn't believe his wife would have a son.  And then we she did and it was time to name the baby she said "John" and there was some argument over it because it wasn't the traditional family name and when Zechariah was asked and gave his agreement to John then God loosed his tongue and he could talk.  Well the first thing he did was prophesy over John.
When I read the second half of that I could feel those words spoken to my heart....prophesied over me.  And the thought came to me...this is for all of us.  We are to be preparing the way for the Lord, sharing the knowledge of salvation.  We are all called to be John the Baptists!
I will admit sometimes I'm not great at witnessing...but thank goodness I have the bible and God reminding what I need to be doing!

Happy weekend lovelies!
