Vintage Gwen Chapel-Honoring Veterans

Courtesy of Sodahead

I know Veteran's Day was yesterday but if you saw yesterday's post then November 11th is a triple special day for me!  So today I want the focus to be on our awesome service men and woman.
My Dad was one of the last to be drafted for the Army and thankfully got stationed in Germany and didn't have to go to Vietnam.  My father in law was also drafted but did have to do one tour in Vietnam and doesn't ever talk about it.  Then my brother in law, also in the Army, was in Desert Storm
I'm thankful for them!
And of course I have several extended family members who are serving or served.  And when I joined Facebook and reconnected with high school classmates I found some guys who are Marines that I wasn't aware of and am so proud of them!

In honor of Veteran's Day I found these awesome words...

"How important it is for us to recognize and celebrate our heroes and she-roes!" -Maya Angelou

"This nation will remain the land of the free only so long as it is the home of the brave." -Elmer Davis

"I think there is one higher office than president and I would call that patriot." -Gary Hart

"As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them." -John Fitzgerald Kennedy

Quotes courtesy of  The Huffington Post.

And then there's always the Word of God...

John15:13 "Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends."

Deuteronomy 31:8:  "The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; don be discouraged."

Psalm 27:3 "Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then will I be confident."

Hug and kiss a Veteran this weekend!

As a soldier myself, I say thank you for taking a few moments to write this post. Most of my uncles were in the Army, I'm in the Army, and so were my bio-dad and my stepdad. My cousin is in the Air Force. I love it when people actually ackowledge the men and women who have served and are serving, even if they don't agree with what we're doing.
These quotes were awesome, thank you for sharing
