Patriotic Burlap Garden Flag

Have you ever had one of those times when you were making something and it didn't quite go as planned? Or you seemed off?
Well that was me yesterday! I've been meaning to craft a patriotic flag and 'wreath'(next week's project!).  So I got out my stuff yesterday and got started.  Maybe it was because I did it during the day and had to take breaks...I usually do my crafting after Lil' Hunkie goes to bed!
Here's what I did:
Started off using the sage burlap I had and made a flag like my previous one.
Then I printed off a Liberty Bell graphic from The Graphics Fairy.
Next, I printed off "Let Freedom Ring!" from my computer...used Monotype Corsiva, bold font.

I cut the white off of the graphic and mod podged it on.  Traced and cut the words out on freezer paper and ironed the stencil on.  Then painted with black paint....I did two coats which may have been where I messed up or it could be that this burlap seems to be painted already since it's sage.  Not sure!  But some of the letters bled. *Sad face.* My solution was to use some light colored paint on hand to try and salvage the letters! (You'll see in a sec....)

Then I wanted to make a medallion...they seem vintage to me! So I measured out a long piece of fabric about 27 inches long and 3 1/2 inches wide.  What was I thinking?! It was too long!
I pleated and ironed, pleated and ironed.

I cut it into 2 pieces, realizing that you need 2 pieces!

I then cut some more! So I can't tell you the dimensions!  I just fiddled with it till it looked good! Used hot glue to glue the inside after folding in half.  Then glued the two halves together.

Added a pom leftover from Lil' Hunkie's birthday!

Hot glued the medallion on. And now my lovely blood letters!

Not bad from far away....you will forgive the weeds won't you?

Maybe I should have stuck with plain ole' burlap?
