When I saw this cute shirt at B.jane brewing I knew I wanted to try and make one. I think it's a creative way to use a tie! I've seen ties made into a necklace and thought it cool but I liked the idea of a shirt. So off to Goodwill I went! (My hubby is a blue collar guy...last time he was in a tie was for our wedding almost 4 years ago!)
Supplies:
$2.99 white men's tee from Goodwill
$1.99 tie from Goodwill that was $9.99 at Ross-still had the tag on it!
embellishments of your choice....I used a button I had in my button stash
sewing machine, thread, needle, scissors
Started by measuring the bottom of the tie out to be 12 inches and cut.
Then removed the inside stuffing.......
.......it was simply tacked in....saved it cause I might have an idea for it!
I then removed the loop just so it'd cut down on the thickness to be sewn.
Folded over the top edge about 1/2 inch.
Pinned and sewed it to shirt.
Then made periodic ruffles and sewed down middle. Now then, this is where I'm going to let you know that I am NOT the 'perfect crafter'! In the photo you'll notice no pins....I tried sewing it with no pins 2 times and both times it turned out crooked! So after having enough of the seam ripper I decided to pin it to ensure a straighter line and achieved it! You'd think I'd learn a lesson.....
I then decided I didn't like the pink buttons and just used the blue one!
What do you think? I wore it to church and got some "Cutes"!
And this isn't the best photo...my hair wasn't even fixed! But knew you'd want to see it on...
....it'll work for a new summer tee, especially for about $5!!
Thanks for the inspiration B.jane brewing!
